How To Create a Reborn
Baby Doll
In the very beginning a sculptor sculpts a very realistic baby from clay
This baby then gets made into lots of reborn doll kits ( head& limbs ) in vinyl
The reborn artist then can purchase the reborn doll kit and proceed to
reborn them into a realistic baby with all the skin tones, marks, & blemishes
that Babies have

Some doll kits are limited additions where only a certain amount are made
into vinyl, because of this these kits tend to be more sort after for collectors
and more expensive in kit form for the artist too.

Lots of Layers of paint are carefully painted on to these kits by the reborn
Artist, building up a 3d effect on the skin little veins are added and birth
marks and blemishes, then after every layer the kits are put into an oven and
heat set. Once this paint is heat set it will never fade or rub of the doll
The finger nails and toe nails are carefully tipped with paint and sealed with a
varnish which is also heat set along with the lips and inside the nose
sometimes too,

If its an open eyed baby then you have to buy the eyes I always buy German
real glass eyes they are amazing so real looking
The eyes can be tricky to get in place sometimes takes a bit of practice once
in place you can give baby eyelashes to frame the beautiful eyes
if baby has closed eyes then the eyelashes can be rooted with mohair
Then you have to decide if the baby is going to have painted hair be bald or
have rooted mohair
I do both the painted hair and rooted, the rooting can take up to 50 hours
to complete but is well worth it for the finished result is so lovely and can
be dampened and styled. It is rooted one or two hairs at a time then sealed
within the head with a waterproof sealant
If baby is going to have a dummy or hair bow this is the time to put
magnets inside the head to hold a bow and behind the lips to hold a dummy
Then its onto the body these are generally bought separately in soft doe
suedette or cotton
After weighting and sealing the head and limbs its time to fill the body
with baby fat (which is a very soft and squidgey pellet ) and fine glass
granules  then finished with good quality fibre fill
The limbs and head are put on and secured with cable ties.
There you have it a beautiful reborn baby many hours of work has paid off
and you can now dress your baby and give her a cuddle what could be more
wonderful
